Meet Cason

B.G. and Tricia are bloggers! You can read updates on Cason as well as the rest of the family by going to http://blakelyfamilyblog.blogspot.com/ You can also find their blog entries (minus the pictures and videos) by clicking the "Journal" tab at the top of this page.

A local photographer took this photo of Cason at Celebrate America.  You can now see updated pictures of Cason at http://cotaforcasonb.shutterfly.com/

Born on June 21, 2007, Cason was diagnosed with Renal Dysplasia and doctors at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Scottish Rite) in Atlanta, Georgia recommended a life-saving kidney transplant. An estimated $45,000 is being raised for Cason by volunteers all over Georgia and the United States.

Donating to Cason's COTA Campaign

Because COTA is a 501(c)3 charity, all donations are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. And, because COTA serves as the trustee of the funds, your donations are not considered income for the family (no TAXES!). COTA even takes care of any charges the credit card company may have for using credit cards to make a donation. This means that the family is able to use EVERY penny that is donated.

There are three ways to donate:

1. Online: Just click on the DONATE tab at the top of this page. It's safe and secure.

2. By check: mail a check to COTA by filling out and printing a donation form. This form contains more infomation on where to mail the check. Just remember to write "Cason Blakely" on the memo line. Don't have a stamp? You can also give the check (still made out to "COTA") to a campaign volunteer and they will take care of sending it in.

3. Donate your time, products, and/or services! Email amatsonccota@gmail.com to find out how to help!

As of April 2008, nearly 100,000 people were on the U.S. organ donor waiting list. Many of these people will not live to receive the organ that they need in order to get a second chance at life. Signing up to be an organ donor is one of the most generous decisions that you can make, and it's so easy to do! If you're not already, please consider becoming an organ donor. You can help save a life!

Become an organ donor!

Common myths about organ donation

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant patients are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure. The Children's Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for patients in need of an organ transplant.
