Great news!

We wanted to share with you all that we heard from Egleston today about Cason's biopsy results and everything looks great! Obviously we are thrilled and extremely thankful! We didn't get many specific details about the test, but all that we really need to know is that his new kidney healthy. Praise the Lord!!

Overall Cason is doing fantastic, so this good news is icing on the cake. He is talking like crazy and has started to put words together into short sentences.

Look how good I feel!

Cason has had a great day today. Our doctors, nurses and transplant team have really been amazed at how well he is doing. He is still pretty fluffy from all of the fluids, but today they decreased his IV fluids so hopefully now we can being to measure how much this new kidney is voiding. They also are starting to wean him off of his blood pressure medicine.

Post-op day 1

It's been 24 hours with Cason's new kidney and he's doing great. He (and we) slept fairly well last night. He woke up fussing one time, but after watching The Wiggles on my iPod for 10 or 15 minutes he was back snoozing soundly. Cason's blood work looks incredible as far as kidney values are concerned. His creatinine was 0.2 this morning (it's been hanging around 3.8 pre-transplant and supposed to stay under1) and his BUN was 7 (was around 75 and supposed to be under 20). Praise the Lord!

Transplant

Cason officially has a new kidney! Praise the Lord! The surgery went better than planned due to the fact that the surgeons didn't have to remove either of Cason's kidneys and didn't have to remove his GJ tube (if it was removed then he would have had another procedure before he left to put it back). God's power and mercy have been so evident today and knowing that so many of you have been praying has been so comforting. We've had a crew of family and friends here with us all day today, which has been awesome.

Praise the Lord!

Praise the Lord, the kidney transplant is over and everything was completely successful. Dr Kirk just reported to the family that Casons kidney is pumping blood well and is even urinating. Additionally, they did not have to remove his feeding line (this will save a future surgery) and he is already breathing on his own. He is even screaming which is great news. Beverly Blakely is already in her room and she came through her donor surgery like a "champion". God has truly blessed this entire family today and has exceeded all of our expectations for Cason.

Here we go!

We just got news that Mom is finished with her part of the surgery and it sounds like everything went great. She'll be in recovery for about 2 hours, so we won't be able to see her until then but we're thankful that all is well on her side of things.

J-Man's bike

Jackson got an early birthday present yesterday. He loves riding his new bike. We can't believe that he is about to be 3 years old.

The Night Before........

Jackson got dropped off at Big Daddy's and Gigi's house today and he was thrilled about staying with them. They have lots of exciting things planned for him. I know that he is going to have a blast! Thanks Big Daddy and Gigi!

We got to Egleston today at about 4:00. They had a room ready for us and Cason was flirting and showing off for all of the nurses. They hooked him up to fluids, feeds, and did some more routine blood. Cason even had to pee in a cup, and he did it!

Play Play Play

Cason really enjoys the sand box and Jackson is playing with his airplanes that Santa brought him in his stocking. We are enjoying the time at home, as we are preparing ourselves for a couples weeks in the hospital. Thanks so much for everyones prayers, Cason has not had a fever since Monday morning. Praise the Lord! God is so good.

Pre-op

Cason and Beverly had their pre-op appointments today. We were afraid that transplant was going to be postponed because of Cason's fever and cough, but it looks like we are still on for next Monday. As long as the fever is gone by Sunday we are good to go, so please pray that it goes away! It's hard to believe that it's almost here. Thank you so much for praying for our little man!
